A 3:1 deep-pour epoxy whose depth limit depends on batch size: MAS's product page gives 0.5 in for a full mixed 1.3 gallon kit or 1 in for a half kit, in a 60 to 75 °F room.

What the numbers mean for a pour

Pours needed with a limit of 1/2 in per pour, the strictest of the limits the documents give. Worked out with the layer planner.

The data sheet does not publish a time between pours, so no schedule is calculated.

What the manufacturer says

Paraphrased from the manufacturer’s documents.

Other notes

  • The TDS gives per-part liquid densities of 9.3 lbs/gal (resin) and 7.9 lbs/gal (hardener) at 25°C (ASTM D1475).TDS
  • Gel time is 5.5 hours for a 150 g mass at 25°C.TDS
  • Cured density is published as 1.15 g/cm³ (0.040 lbs/in³); this is the cured solid, not the mixed liquid.TDS
  • MAS's headline positioning is pours of 1/2 to 1 inch per layer.Page
  • The TDS calls for gloves, protective clothing and eye/face protection, and use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area.TDS

Temperature

  • MAS warns not to use Deep Pour above 75°F, where it can set too fast, overheat and yellow, distort, shrink or crack.Page

Layering

  • Thicker castings are built by step-pouring multiple layers, and larger slabs should be poured thinner than small castings.Page

Surface preparation

  • Deep Pour must not be poured onto unsealed wood or porous surfaces, or moisture will cause foam and bubbles.TDS

Heat

  • The TDS lists a heat deflection temperature of 118°F after room-temperature cure and 122°F after post cure.TDS

Where the manufacturer’s documents disagree

  • Maximum pour depth per layer: 1" thinkness max for 1/2 gallon pour or .5" thickness for 1 gallon pours (product page Benefits list) vs. do not exceed 0.5" casting thickness for a full mixed 1.3 gallon kit, or 1" for a half mixed kit (product page Maximum Casting Thickness) (Page, Page). Both statements are in the Page; the table shows “0.5" for a full mixed 1.3 gallon kit, or 1" for a half mixed kit”.

Not published

The documents listed below give no value for: Minimum pour depth; Maximum mass or volume per pour; Pot life; Time between pours; Recoat window; Tack-free; Demold; Specific gravity or density, Part A; Specific gravity or density, Part B; Specific gravity, mixed; Density, mixed. We leave these blank rather than estimate them.
