A 1:1 art resin that TotalBoat's data sheet rates for coatings up to 1/4 in and small castings up to 2 in, with 30 minutes of working time and at least 4 hours between coats at 70 °F.

What the numbers mean for a pour
Pours needed with a limit of 1/4 in per pour, the strictest of the limits the documents give. Worked out with the layer planner.
| Total thickness | Pours | Earliest start of last pour | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 in (25 mm) | 4 | 12 h after the first, if the conditions below are met | – |
| 2 in (51 mm) | 8 | 28 h after the first, if the conditions below are met | – |
| 3 in (76 mm) | 12 | 44 h after the first, if the conditions below are met | – |
| 4 in (102 mm) | 16 | 60 h after the first, if the conditions below are met | – |
Only if these published conditions are met: between 1/4 in coats/layers at 70°F
What the manufacturer says
Paraphrased from the manufacturer’s documents.
Other notes
- Gel time for a 150 g mass is listed as 70 minutes at 77°F.TDS
- Minimum cure before use is 48 hours at 65-75°F; a 1/4 in coat is sandable after 24 hours and ready for light use after 48 hours.TDS
- Cured density is published as 1.08 g/cm³ (cured solid, not mixed liquid).TDS
- Mix only what will be used within 20 minutes, and preferably no more than one gallon at a time; step-pour larger projects.TDS
- Wet sanding or buffing should wait until the epoxy has cured at least 5-7 days.TDS
Heat
- The cure is exothermic; mixed epoxy left in the cup beyond its working time can reach 200-300°F.TDS
- Items hotter than 122°F should not be placed on the cured surface.Page
Temperature
- Below 65°F the resin may be too viscous to release bubbles, and above 75°F it may set too fast and overheat, causing yellowing, surface distortion or cracking.TDS
Surface preparation
- Wood and other porous surfaces must always get a seal coat, cured hard and sanded with 80-120 grit, before the flood coat to stop outgassing bubbles.TDS
Layering
- Coatings thicker than 1/4 in are built in 1/4 in layers at least 4 hours apart, without sanding between coats; castings over 10 oz are also poured in 1/4 in layers.TDS
UV and color
- For items exposed to extreme UV, TotalBoat advises a clear urethane or varnish topcoat to prevent yellowing over time.TDS
Coverage
- A 1-gallon kit covers roughly 24 sq ft as a seal coat or 6.4 sq ft as a 1/4 in flood coat.TDS
Where the manufacturer’s documents disagree
- Maximum pour depth per layer: Pour high gloss layers and molds up to 1" deep (TDS headline bullet) vs. Up to 2" for castings up to 10 fl. oz. (TDS data table and casting section; product page) (TDS, Page). The table shows the value from the TDS.
- Working time: 30 minutes at 70°F (TDS) vs. 30 minutes @ 77°F (product page specifications) (TDS, Page). The table shows the value from the TDS.
